I just made one for my MP 358-125 bullets as Dillon told me the same thing. The stock one is .351, mine's .3575 ish. I need my bullets to be .358 for my PT-92's rather large barrel. Case spring-back is .001. I assumed the .38 expander was going to be short. Have tried 15:1 and 50 / 50 alloys and both work well, the 50 / 50 I like a little better and it's cheeper as I only add about 1/2% Sn to it.
    The results:

I am looking for something like this for loading .452 boolits in .45 ACP. So maybe one in .450 or .451? I would pay good money for this. My current E funnel mics at .446, way too small for loading .452 bullets.

I would also like one for loading .314 WC bullets in .32 S&W long. So maybe .313?

I'll also take one for at .3565 or .357 for .38 spl, and probably one at .429 or similar for .44.

I guess it comes down to the fact that I need a whole set.

I'm very interested in finding out the price.

    Thanks,

    -John

Miha - let us know if you decide to make custom expanders/powder funnels for Dillon 550 and 650 presses. Many of their expanders, while ideal for jacketed bullets, are too small for cast bullets.
    Thanks,

I am interested too. Would have to get measurements, but I'm loading 45 now, and looking to start 9mm.

I would be in for a 9mm in .355/.356. I just checked my powder funnel and it measures .353, cases measure .353 inside diameter after being run through the powder die. I then pulled a bullet sized to .356 and discovered it is being swaged down to .354 before any crimp is applied. This is a decrease of .002 from the original sized diameter. I was thinking i could use my .38 funnel but it doesn’t measure much larger than the 9mm, .354 vs. .353. This may help so i am hoping for a snow day tomorrow to allow me to sit at the reloading bench and do a little more investigating.

Is anything happening on this because I would take a custom funnel for 38/357, 40/10mm, 41Mag, 44Mag, 45ACP, and 45Colt.

I think I would be in for this too. I love the MiHec 147gr. 9mm boolit, but it does get squeezed in my Dillon *just* enough to cause problems in some of the bigger bored 9mm pistols --- at least one XDm I've tried it in has some occasional issues due to the depth of the bullet...I'm always up for a custom touch or minor improvement in the process

I use the XL650 and have the same problem as you guyes with my 9mm. If I don't use the powder checker in the press station 4 is free. What do you think about trying the expander die for 38 in this station? I guess that this could work since the expander is longer. Thoughts? Thanks!

Yes this is a good solution for a problem with my Dillon 650 as well. I would want one sized .357 so I can run my .358 boolits thru the blue machine. My 9 MM's are sized to .358 in my Star luber-sizer cuz my Browning wants them fat and skinnier boolits cause all kinds of blowback problems. If they are skinny I get a build up of gunk in the action, dirty cases and malfunctions after 25 rounds are fired. Not good.

I'd be interested in several different calibres. I'd sure take a 9mm if that was all that was available.

    Thanks,

It looks pretty dead. Maybe somebody with a lathe can pick this up and run with it.

    I'd take a short one sized .357 for .380 and 9mm.
    I'd take a long one sized .357 for .38/.357.
I cast soft, and the factory funnels leave the brass to tight, and they swage down my bullets.
A small step like the Lyman M-die would be nice too.

I really could use one for 30-30 as I just started loading it and my lead is being shaved off. I plan on starting to cast 9mm and I suspect I will need one of them too.

I'm having a custom made for me right now by a co-worker with a lathe. The Dillon expander measured 0.354. I'm starting the custom one off at .357 with an additional short shoulder like on a Lyman M-die with a .358 diameter. I can always take off more if I need to. The original one resulted in pulled soft boolits measuring .356. They had been sized to .358. I would be interested in more custom powder funnels.

I looked though the vendor forum and nothing was obvious as to someone that makes them. We need someone that does them just like Lathesmith does for the star dies. Does someone make them and I missed it? If not it looks like a cottage project for someone that has a lathe.
