About time for a new gun.

Well, I think it's time for a new handgun. I'm thinking a .45acp. I was originally looking at Glock 21's but now I'm strongly considering the Sig P250. That way, I can shoot all 4 calibers with just a field strip and a magazine change. It would also be good if SHTF, have whatever caliber for whatever ammo you find. What do y'all think?

SIGs are well made, and I am a huge fan of .45 ACP but the multicaliber guns have never tickled my fancy.
OTOH, it is YOUR gun, so if you think it is cool, it is cool - for you.

Life is short, enjoy your toys.

If you don't mind the DAO operation, it's a novel concept. The most recent itch I scratched was a SIG-Sauer in 45 ACP--a German-made P-220. I had a Glock 21 for some time, but it was just a bit too much of a good thing. Those extra 7 rounds added a half-pound over the P-220's carry weight.

I am a huge 1911 fan. That said my carry pistol is a Sig P220. Enough lighter to make difference at the end of the day.
45 AUTO! Because having to shoot someone twice is just silly!

For a conversion gun the Glock 22 is a better choice as it covers 9mm, 357sig and 40S&W very well.

With the G20/21 you could cover 10mm/40S&W/45ACP with one of them. but need different barrels and maybe different slides.

For a straight 45acp gun the G21SF is hard to beat.

Instead of multi-barrels I would just buy the one you shoot the best or like the best.

I do a lot of shooting with a 2-caliber kit--the Ruger P-89X in 9mm, with a 30 Luger swap barrel and recoil spring. One stunt I enjoy is using the heavier-rate 9mm spring with the 30 Luger barrel to run 90-95 grain J-words and castings to 1400 FPS+ velocities. Yessir, that critter stands right up and BARKS, too. Hornady XTPs and Lyman #311419 both do EVIL things to jackrabbits. Don't plan on table fare, and DEFINITELY use ear protection.

Reason I was going to get the Sig is because I can't buy any pistols until 2016 and "my mom" needs a centerfire pistol. The P250 will shoot 9mm, 40SW, .357 Sig, and .45 ACP all in one package. Just buy the right size slide, barrel, and magazine. I would probably buy one in .45 and then buy other calibers from there. What do you think?

just make sure "your mom" is the one that handles the pistol. I'd hate for you to lose your right to legally purchase another pistol in 2016...

The whole idea of a 45APC is because shooting someone twice is just silly!

Don't worry, I know the VA laws. I can have it as long as I'm with someone over 18 with permission from her to use it. At 18, (August 2013) she can give it to me as a gift, then I can legally open carry and hunt with a handgun.

About time for a new gun.

    I'm confused!

Could someone explain to me when it's "not" time for a new gun?
