Custom Round Ball Molds - Heavy Metal Molds

Ok guys Round Ball group buy is started. I will start cutting them when I get back to the shop on Monday.

    http://castboolits.gunloads.com/show...51#post2790151

Don't pay any attention to my quote below, this design was way back befor I settled on a mold block design. These round ball molds are in out standard 3" blocks that you can see on my website.

You most likely have heard the rumors that I am going to start cutting molds. Well it's time to confirm the rumors and let you in. Right now I'm getting my toes wet with round ball molds. There does not seem to be much selection in this department. And after being asked by many friends if I could make custom round ball molds I decided to bite the boolit and go for it. The name of the company is Heavy metal molds. the web site will be up and running soon, I'm tweaking the Cart before I post it. but for now it's just the logo as a place holder.
    this is the web address.
    www.HeavyMetalMolds.com

I'm not taking orders right now, but I will be soon. I'm still sorting out mold block sizes and perfecting my duel supported sprue plate design. The new high speed CNC mill will be here very soon.

I am wondering how many people are interested in custom size round ball molds. I can do sizes from bird shot to cannon balls. Single cav to 12 cav double sided. I have proofed the program that I will use to cut the molds and it works flawless. The good thing is that it requires no special sized cherries to cut the molds. So making one offs is much easier. I will be offering Aluminum "7075", Iron "durabar" and brass. I will also offer the aluminum mold in a hard "black" anodize coating to prevent scratches and sprue plate gulling. The iron molds will be blued or parked. The sprue plates will be thick, I have not settled on a thickness yet but thy will be between .125 and .250.

I'm not asking for order commitments. I just want to see how many people would be interested, and what sizes people are looking for. Thank you

    UPDATE:
Here is what I have been working on these last few weeks. The mold is ready for a sprue plate and cavs. This is just the prototype as all the work went into the programing. Tonight I ran this block from start to finish using all 4 programs and its smooth as glass. Production will start very soon once the block is tested for proof of concept.

It's not the size of your brass that matters, It's how you tumble it.

I believe you would find a good market for a 4 cavity .595 RB mold.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

I can make anything you want, I would just need measurements or set of mold blocks to copy.

JT, if I can find them in all the stuff I just moved, I'll send you a set of magma blocks. They aren't in great shape, but you can keep them once you get your measurements.

    PM me your address again

Oh, and I'm going to want to order a 4+ cavity .315 RB mold, once you're up and running

Yes I can mix and match sizes in one block. There will be a extra charge for the extra program time for the other cav. But it would not be much.

I would be interested in something about 0.675" to 0.680" double cavity or better.

4 cavity would be nice but might be a bit much weight in iron or brass.

Can you predict weight of finished moulds in the various materials?

    Hi JTknives,
I'm an interested party for multi cavity Iron Ball Moulds, especially for .54 & .58 caliber.
I'd also be intterested in some Cannon Ball Moulds @ .977.
And probably 6 Cavity Moulds in:
    .315/.395/.454/.457/.490 to name a few.

Feel free to contact me if your looking for info.

I'd be interested in a round ball to fit my cannon as well! Once you get going, I'll send diameter. Good luck.
