Hold it out and look through it. If you have to get it within three inches or so of your eye to get the view to fill the eyepiece, it's a rifle scope, i.e. standard eye relief; if you can keep the eyepiece filled out to almost arm's length, it's a long eye relief "pistol" scope (also useful for "scout scope" mounts like most of the Mosin Nagant after market mounts). There's also an "extended eye relief" that's in between; it'll go six or eight inches, but not full arm's length; those are for scout mounts on rifles shorter than a Mosin Nagant.

Hard to say without knowing the model number.... How far is the eye relief??? Odds are, if it's a long relief then it's a pistol scope... short relief would definitely be rifle....

Don't think that's a surefire way to guess - look thru it and measure how far it has to be to see full view.

Based on the scope ring, I would say rifle scope. I don't think they make pistol bases that turn and lock into the base.

5.7 Man: You sure can buy "Redfield type" turn and lock bases for pistols. So the only way to be sure is to confirm model number or check eye relief. -Ed

Even at a 400x screen magnification, I can't quite make out the scope model stamped into the front/objective lens retention ring on the front of the scope.

It would for sure tell the tale.

id guess a 2x long eye relief pistol scope by the size of it. I dont recall a luepold rifle scope that small.

Looks like a pistol scope but just check the eye relief as stated, a Leupold rifle scope this size
will mx out at about 5 inches. If you have a full field out at 18" or so it's obviously a pistol scope.
