how about a solid version? I have no need of this HP bullsnot.
Frozone, the mold comes with all the pins. One of the sets of pins that the mold comes with will cast a solid nose.

Thank You - I'm VERY well aware of what the pins do and don't do.
I don't WANT them, I want a brass mold - no bells, no whistles and certainly no pins. This bullet doesn't need a HP - Most of the molds done here shouldn't be HPed.
It's only the 'FAD' thing that causes it - if you can't do the job with a solid lead bullet you're doing it wrong.
I'll take 2 please all cut for .311 diameter.
1 = 4 cavity plain base hollow point with all pins
1 = 4 cavity gas check hollow point with all pins

Frozone,
Thanks for the heads up. I thought the option for a hollowpoint was a good thing, but I see now that solid flatnose bullets have there merits for some who may not want to shoot at thin skinned game. I for one always liked the bang flop reaction I get from hollowpoints or softpoints. I will take it with whatever comes with it.
The only disadvantage I see is the steel pins, and rusting in humid, salty environments, or ease of use. However, simplicity does have its merits.
I've yet to hit anything smaller than a coyote with a .30 flat nosed soft lead bullet (spire pointed either for that matter) and Not have it just as dead as if I'd used a HP.
I have similar augments with my range-master about the 458socom vs the Beowulf.
He says he has a bigger bullet selection, I point out that anything I hit with 400g of lead at 1700 fps is not less dead. And mines bigger than yours
The disadvantage to the HP is, for the most part, simply time.
It takes a while to get the pins warm, then you have to push each one out and drop the bullet off. I'd rather just turn the mold over and give it a shake, turn it back up and pour some more. The Cramer design helps but it's still slower than a plain mold.
The movements of the pins causes more wear on the mold than if they were not there as well.
Put me down for a 4 cavity, GC, .311 diameter, with all pins . Thank You...

Many decades of testing HP's says there is a distinct advantage to them and the HP is anything but bullsnot or a fad. It may well be wrong for you but that has nothing whatever to do with it being right for everyone else. In fact, in 17 pages of the "interested in thread" no one else asked for a solid without the pins much less made such an issue of it.
This bullet very much needs and benefits from the HP. I shoot very light loads from a Ruger 30 Carbine and a T/C 32-20 on ground squirrels. The entrance hole and exit hole says the HP opened up very effectively.
Neither my 30 carbine or T/C 32-20 shoots 400 gr or 1700 fps. Trying to do so would be very tough indeed on either of these firearms.
The bottom line is simple, since the mold everyone else is signed up for and wants is so wrong for you simply don't order it, just continue shooting 400 gr at 1700 fps.
