Try Pacific Tool and Guage! I've gotten several chamber prints from them, and usually at no cost IF they Email them.
Just get a neck size die or don't size at all, that way the brass will fit your chamber, not to mention you won't wear your brass out as quick. If you want some case tension you can get a taper crimp die from Buffalo Arms.

The only dies I have "IN HAND" are RCBS Ron Long 40-65 dies (long chamber/.406 boolit)
RCBS has two other different sets of dies (COWBOY and Legacy Dies .408)
I've heard that people have been having problems sizing the bases small enough with the Lyman dies (don't know which guns though)

Since your question relates to reforming cases more than resizing them, I don't have any valid information for you.
Good luck in your quest.

why not just buy the proper cases from Starline ?
drcook = david r, most folks just call me dave, not Dr. but thanks for the compliment
Most of the Starline brass is already on the short side
Not knowing the chambers depth, I'm not sure how long they need to be
I like to try to fill as much of the chambers depth as I can, so that I don't get a fouling ring at the throat area when using black powder
Also they are on backorder at this time
I did try to measure chamber depth with calipers - keep coming up with 2.112"
Of course that is working blindly

The trim to length on a 40-65 case is 2.1 so your measurement is close. If I'm not mistaken the Ron Long chamber is the length of the reformed 45-70 brass which I would think is longer than 2.112. I formed all of my brass from 45-70 but it was so long ago I don't remember the length before trimming. Not sure that the Ron Long dies wouldn't work anyway.

Cimmaron by Uberti, High wall and one pass in the RCBS dies make a perfect 40 65 case. Use lanolin for case lube.
My gun has absoutely no bullet seat in the chamber. May change that.
I also have the neck sizer and that is all it takes for reloading.
You can just back off the full length sizer and it works about as well.
I need a .410" 350 grain gas check boolit so I can put a little more poop behind them.
I have the Lee two cavity .408" plain base 300 grain and it tends to lead the bore if I go past 1,300 fps. I lapped it out to .410".
A lot of 40 65 BPCR shooters shoot the 400 grain boolits. I just need a paper puncher and an occaisonal deer boolit.
Life is good
