    Cast and the 7mm Mauser

Well it doesn't look like much, and old FN Mauser military with the bolt handle bent and a 6X Pecar mounted but, it shoots cast boolits exceptionally well. Using an RCBS 145gn boolit sized to .285" and 29gns 3031, I recorded this 10 shot group at 100yds last weekend.

Hold Still Varmint; while I plugs Yer!

Looks great, and at least you have a boolit that fits. I might find sweetness in my mausers if that 7mm military ever comes to fulfillment and until then I refuse to burn any more powder in my military 7mm's.

Nice group. I'll have to check my sizing die and see what I have. Evidently you have hit on a winner with your setup. My old Mauser has been turned into a sporter. I need to dig things out and give it another try.

Hey Wallace, I notice all those pasters on the target. You didn't shoot a 20 round group and saved the best 10 did ya?

    Nice work.

Nice group. I would be happy with that.

Headed out later today with my old M96 German from the Boer War. I have RCBS 175 grain and some 130 grain Lee boolites both with gas checks loaded up with 10 and 11 grains (130's) of Unique. I haven't slugged my bore and my sizer is .284 so I am too optimistic as the rifling in that old rifle is a little worn. Time will tell.

    BAW :

I do believe you have arrived !

Improving that kind of performance won't be easy.
That is indeed some fine shooting.

    Best,
    Ben
