    ? molds

Just got 3 ideal SC round ball molds today in a deal, can't find anything about them and was hoping some one here could tell me anything about them.

    #1 360 745

    #2 375 355

    #4 319 223

    Thanks, Don

the 375355 is a 240 gr. plain base with multiple drive bands for the 38-55.

i'm guessing the 319223 is the same thing for a 32 cal rifle [the ones i see around it are] but more in the 170 gr range.
i dunno about the 360 mold.

Don, unless I am missing something, the 360 will cast a .360 round ball, the 375, a .375 and the 319 somewhere around .320.

What were you hoping to discover?

If these are Lyman roundball molds, only the ball diam (3 digits) is meaningful,
the other is a random production number from 1 to 999 that keeps the blocks
together during production and means nothing else.

For boolits, not roundballs, the first three are nominal diam and second three are
    the cherry design.

Thanks for the info, I called Lyman, they said they will call with what they found out. These are old and made by Ideal when they were in Middlefield, I have a 1941 catalog and the girl I talked to on the phone said they were older then that. I'l post what info they give me when I get it.

Looks like your reading the numbers wrong or they're not all even Ideal. If they look like Ideal but have a slightly squared off sprue plate, they might be Thompson moulds.

Only the first three digits mean anything (nominal diam) on roundball molds. They are NOT six digit boolit
    design numbers.
