    New Baby

Dr Frankenstein has created a new baby!!!
I bought it sporterized for $185.00
Sunk $90.00 worth of retrograde parts from Sarco and Numrich Arms and a FTF deal with Flydoc brings it to life.
    Total spent $275.00

Range trip this week will tell if stock effects accuracy of sporter stocked load.

Nice - the rifle and the price. I have some 1917's over at the Legion post that I've taken out to the club range to shoot, and I have a P14 that I bought a number of years ago. The P14 has some cleaning rod wear at the muzzle and doesn't shoot jacketed al that well (2-4" @ 100 yds). I've been debating lately whether to buy and mount a new barrel since they can be ordered from Criterion, or just counterbore it. I haven't been able to get a very accurate reading on the groove diameter since there are 5 lands. I may just order the barrel to keep for a rainy day. Counterbored it might just make a dandy cast boolit rifle...

This reminds me of a Civil War carbine I saw a photo of once. It had a coffee mill in the butt stock. There was supposedly one issued per 'X' number of troops. At least the coffee mill didn't require 110V AC......

Well it looks like the return to mililtary configuration has helped the gun shoot better!!!!
I loaded some lee 150 and 170 RNFP boolits with hornady checks and speed green lube over 2400 powder and shot this with the 170 gr load.
1580 fps average, WDWW aged about 2 wks sized .310

That is four shots at 100 yrds

I placed the front post under the plate so the sight picture was like a lolipop.
The rear ladder was up set at 400 yrds which was dead on @ 50yrds.
Im glad I returned it to original.
    Thanks again flydoc and Hamish
That is a U.S quarter under my booger picker.
Shot at 8am CST, this morning, overcast, temp 68*.No wind.
I made sure the stock only contacted the barrel at the top band/ bayonet lug.
