    357 handi rifle

Sometime back one of the members here posted a 357 mag handi rifle. Looked pretty nice. I was thinking of getting one just to play around with. But looked on their website and there was nothing even remotely resembeling the pics on this forum. Si if anyone could find that post I'd be a happy camper. Thanks, Frank

I presume you're talking about the stocks. Thru time the factory has put various woods and styles of forends on the different models. I have one in synthetic, one laminated (nice), one pallet wood, one pallet wood schnabel forend. I suspect you're mainly finding synthetic as that's what sells well currently. Look around and see what you find, or buy one and stock it the way you want. GW

Thanks for your reply. Interested in finding what looked like a heavy barreled 357 mag. From the OP's post it looked to have no taper. I think I have one in 410 guage and need to look at it to detirmine who actually made it. Been so long since I've shot it. Thanks again, Frank

357: The standard 22" barrels don't have much taper. There is a shorter 18" barrel which is lighter. Alot of different stock styles available and people mix and match, paint, carve up and make their own. It's one way to get a personalized rifle inexpensively. Your 410 might be an old Topper. I like Handi rifles alot. Good luck with yours.

Thanks for the info. I seem to remember that they used two different frames for their shotguns/rifles. Will have to dig it out and check. Frank

The two different frams are the SB1 and SB2. The first one is for shotguns and some pistol calibers while the second fram is for anything tha they make barrels for. I have four SB2 frames and 7 barrels for them. I am planning to add another barrel in the the near future as soon as I figure out which one I want.

Just out of curiosity, does the standard 38 special/357 mag dies work on the 357 max as well?

These are my Handi's. The one with the synthetic stock is a 357 Survivor. The one with the laminated stock is a 45-70 Ultra Hunter. I really dislike the plain Jane pallet wood stocks, but like the survivor and laminate stocks. Go to Gray Beard's Outdoors if you want more info on Handi Rifles, they have a forum dedicated to Handi's. Dale
