I've taken the pain to hand lube a few bullets just so I could try the rifle out a little. Have fun shooting.
I've seen Prvi Partizan in brass/Boxer for under a buck a round -- or about half the price of Remington. Sellier & Bellot is in between.
BTW, it's also possible to reload steel cases, especially if you use light loads. The Berdan primer is the hard part; the surplus cases use a bigger primer (.257") than any I've seen offered in the USA, so you have to go through a process to convert the primer pockets, then you have to anneal the necks so they won't split. Once that's done, if you neck size, it appears you can get almost as many reloads out of them as brass cases -- and they're certainly a lot cheaper.
Find some good brass milsurp cases, read the sticky on converting them to boxer primers and have a go at it. It's not rocket science........

Finding anything local to me ......well its not happening. I live in Massachusetts. Vendors don't like to ship to us!
I purchased Priv Partisan new brass at a good price from Graffs & Sons. I have also purchased Priv Partisan and Sellior Beloit just for the brass. I heard the Sellior Belloit didn'
t hold hold up well. Winchester sells some Metric Ammo but it is special order in our area.
hornady makes metric stuff too and it's reasonably priced [compared to norma anyway]
i have never seen any in the stores and it's usually sold out when i want some.
so i figure it must be good stuff.
I bought a 100 7.5x55 brass at huntingtons a back in spring sometime for around 50 bucks I think.. I believe its grafs and sons, I would assume that the 7.62x54r brass would be similar in price, I could be wrong though. I never find 7.62x54r brass at the range, unfortunately everyone shoots the surplus stuff.... I love to shoot medium loads out of my Finn m39. 18 grns of alliant 2400 and the Lee 155 grain 310/311 mould gas checked. That load has produced the best accuracy for my finn, I've tried 12-16 grains of 2400 with ok results. I could just suck at shooting too.
Let us know how they shoot, 314299 has been great for me in several of my Mosins.
