    Tin mold...

What say ye about having NOE make a 2-cavity mold (on 4-cavity blocks) that would cast a 2 ounce slug of pure tin?

The primary issue for me, in making alloys in small quantities for testing is the PITA work getting the proper amount of tin and antimony in for a 2-3lb mini-batch.

Look at the fishing sinker molds. It would be a lot cheaper though not as good looking.

I use a four cavity mold that drops boolits at 450gr to make tin sweetener ingots for the pot. They drop a bit lighter than that of course, but it does make it easier to make a measured sweetener. I have to cast at a much lower temp to cast tin though.

I use a Lee 2 cavity .540 RB mold to make my sweetener drops. I like bein' able to add just a bit at a time as I add an ingot at a time.

By the way, volume for volume, tin is right at 65% the weight of lead, if that's of any use to anyone.

What you want is a Strap Decoy Anchor Mold for $19.00 that makes 3 straps ...

Then when making up your alloy, take a PVC pipe cutter to snip off from the strap exactly the amount of needed tin

I use a 440 round ball mold to make 5 gram tin balls.
I have an old lee 2C mold drilled out to 1/2" x ~ 1/2" that drops 15 gram slugs.

I know most of you guys are metric challenged but it's easier to work with .02 of xxxxx grams than Oz/lbs.

Just avoid Brass Molds when casting Tin.
