NEW and IMPROVED golden bullets, anybody try them yet?

Way back in the 60s and 70s Rem golden bullets were my favorite ammo. Burned many in my 581, Nylon 66 and Browning SA and they were accurate. For the past 30 years they have been going down the tube of poor QC. Just picked up a big box of 225 NEW and IMPROVED golden bullets. If they are anything like the golden bullets of old I'll be a happy kid again. Has anyone tried them and are they NEW and IMPROVED as advertised? Got the same 45 year old rifles and have added a fieldmaster too (they still shoot good with good ammo, the Nylon has been my trapline gun and dosen't even have sights anymore but she's still putting rounds down range). Someone please tell me I'm not going to be dissapointed when I get out to the range again. Thanks, 10 ga

I hope they are improved but , with my recent eperience with Remington ammunition in general I can not be to optimistic for you .

Remington got the new and improved half right at least ..... when you got them from the store they were "new" .

When did they improve them? I've been shooting the goldens for nearly 20 years now. When my parents got me a 10/22 for Christmas when I was 14 years old, they also gave me a box of goldens.

I've shot brick after brick of them with only a few duds here and there. I hear that they're dirty, but I haven't seen a clean .22lr round yet.

Just as dirty, no FTF's or light charges from our 1st box. Last box we had there were quite a few that went bang but didn't cycle the action or hit any where near the same as the others.

I have a Sig mosquito, most persnicity gun I have ever had. I would run CCI Mini Mags ($6.50/100 on sale) but nothing else. I tried 8-10 different kinds of ammo in it and no joy. I bought a box of Remington golden bullet ($17.69/525) to try. I put every one of them through that mosquito with NO failures of any kind, and no cleaning from start to finish. Now I need to stock up on them for it.

I just ran 100 rounds of fresh Remington GAs through my Walther PP. Functions as reliably as ever.

I'll have to try some in my Ruger Slabside. Do they sell them in a small amount for trial size?

I've used them and did not like them at all, they are very dirty, I had plenty of jams and firing failures, and on top of it all they smell terrible. The bit of smoke that comes of them smells like burnt rotten fish.

I'm guessing woodchuck that was to close to the water .

Good shot ! I had a chuck in the front lawn the other day while I was mowing . Stupid critter dodn't pay me no mind at all when I stopped at the garage , shut off the blades and got the rifle . One Velocitor from fifty yards in the back of its head means one less chuck to have near the garden

    Good guess.
I have a 2 foot high bank on the creek in the backyard. The far bank has an immediate 3' rise to it, or as I like to call it: backstop. I'm in a constant fight to keep the woodchucks at bay. I shoot 15-20 per year encroaching into my backyard. They dug under my porch along the foundation and underneath my backyard patio.

I punch a few with cast from my centerfires. It's good practice.

Your best bet for accuracy will most likely be the Wolf Match Target.
