    0.006 aluminum strip

    Hello all,

A couple of people have asked about a buy for some aluminum strip from yonky. I got some for my 45PB - works great. 100' of 0.006 was very reasonable - I figure a large buy will save a bunch of postage if nothing else. Also great for people who don't need 100'+ at the moment.

Post here or in pm, how much and what width you would like. Also what caliber making for - I'd like to see how much variation there is in same caliber check makers

This is just a feeler - with a rough idea yonky could give us his best price.

I'll move to "active" when we have some solid numbers.

    Thanks,
    Ross

Id like to order enough to make about 1000 checks of so.
    I have a 40PB cal checkmaker

    I think I need .63"/16mm width

I ordered some .008" from Yonky before. Have not used it yet.
Is this for .006" only or can we specify different thickness also?
If we can then I would be interested in .008"T x .393'W x 200' for 22 caliber. Will be using a freechex III.

edit PS: I think .006" will work for 22c also so I would still be in for this if it's a go.

Just be sure to get '3xxx' series alloy and not '1xxx' series. I am getting a lot of feedback that the '1xxx' is too soft. Litho plate is '3xxx'.

If you have a local newspaper, they will give you twenty sheets of used for a dozen donuts and a pound of coffee.

    gas check material?

    Gents-

I would be interested in buying some gas check material IF I knew what Yonky has in 100' lengths, thicknesses, prices, etc.

If we're going to try a GB, lets see what is available and prices.

I'd really love having enough material to cut 1000 .30 caliber gas checks.

Thanks too, we need more idea's like this................

Thanks for the input guys !

Yes, put down all parameters you would like - width, length, thickness, what ever.

I will try to keep track what everyone wants, lol

I'll e-mail yonky and get a rough idea what kind of price we are looking at for various stock.

    Hi Mike,

I don't think Ian has the order ready yet - should be able to add this for you.

WOW, thats wider slots - my 45PB takes .650

    Hi,

I do not wish to join your group buy, only because I live in the UK and I have been dealing directly with Ian.
I bought some gas checks from him through eBay and was impressed enough that within a week I had ordered my own Freechex III tool. I have since bought the aluminium coil from Ian.
He deals very promptly and the aluminium coil is very consistant and convenient. A 100' coil will make approximately 2400 .30 calibre gas checks. They shoot well too. I am using 0.015" thick aluminium.
Buying the Freechex tool has given a new lease of life to ten .30 cal GC moulds that I had stopped using because of the price of gas checks. I saw some .30 cal checks last week for $54/1000. Prices in the UK are becoming truly astronomical these days. I make as much of my own stuff as I can.

Good luck with the GB, you will not be disappointed.

    Simon.
