280 gr cast bullet loads 9.3x57

I'm looking for load data for a 280 gr cast bullet in the 9.3x57. It's the new Bullet Barn 9.3 bullet.

That's what 9.3s are made for, so any book data should be a good place to start. Something like 3031 or 4895 would be my choice of powder, but a lot depends on the boolit fit to your rifle, bore condition, etc as for how hard you can lean on them. But at normal pressures a 9.3x57 should be able to go to full power with cast gaschecked boolits with no problem.

Check this site out for loads.

    http://forums.gunboards.com/forumdis...rting-Firearms

A load that I use for general practice is 23.0 gr of SR 4759 Win Lg Rifle primer. Vel in my rifle is 1506 fps and accuracy is excellent. My bullet is the NOE 290gr. 45.5 gr of Varget will get 2036 fps. These loads are safe in my rifle, use at your own risk.

I think so. The OP said "Bullet Barn", not "Barnes". Must be a casting outfit.

    JD,
Have you loaded a 250 gr cast with SR 4759, and if so, how much powder? What would it take with the 250 gr bullet to achieve 1600-1700 fps with that powder or some other powder?

Yes, the Bullet Barn is a casting outfit in Canada. Shipping costs are stiff to the lower US. So, I plan to get a mold and lube and sizing die and cast my own bullets.

I have had good luck with 33 gr of Rx7 behind a 280 gr gas checked boolit. MV approx 1750 in my rifle. 4198 can be used to shoot plain base very accurately at about 1350 fps.

This is a bit of a necro-thread, but I use 358 Win loads for the 250 gr bullet for the 9.3X57 with this same 280 gr cast bullet (and for 286 gr jacketed). This is in a M98 action.
