    Gila bear hunt

Leaving tomorrow for a bear hunt in the Gila Wilderness. I saw two nice ones last year when deer hunting. One was a beautiful cinnamon color.

I'm really excited because I am taking my 450 Marlin. The reason it is exciting is because I finally got it shooting cast boolits well thanks to Ranch Dog. I couldn't keep it on paper with regular Lee molds. I now shoot 2.5 inch groups at 100 yards.

Wish me luck! Hopefully I will be back before Sunday night with a report.

What an adventure! Enjoy life while you can... all the best. Hope you get a bear but you will have done a wonderful thing to just get out there even if you don't get the bear.

Got skunked. I did have one near me, he rolled a log but by the time I got close he was gone. It rained most of the time. We needed it, far to dry.

I did get pictures of my new to me m101a2 trailer I used for a camper and a toy hauler.

It was actually pretty comfortable. I put two tarps over it and stayed dry.

Ernest you have it right. I am making the most out of life now that the kids are grown. I was happy just being in the woods for 5 days.

375 Ruger, the burn was about 15 miles west of where I hunt. Thank heavens it went NE instead of west.

I did get to see a bunch of elk and deer. Scouting was another reason I was there. I drew a rifle deer tag. One of the bucks I saw has really nice potential. Pretty nice rack.

It sounds like a good hunt. You had the benefits of a good time outdoors, without having to pack out a greasy old bear!
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

If a bear has a reason to stay busy in one place he will for a while otherwise he is always moving. I don't know how many times I've heard one rip into a log or rattle a can that was found or turn over rocks, rush as quietly as possible to the noise and find not a thing. Happens at least once a season to me.

Thats reassuring. It was my first bear hunt. I am definitley a novice at it. If the season doesnt close due to quotas, I will have another shot when I deer hunt.
