    Blackhorn 209 in a 40-82 Win

Anyone have experience with Blackhorn in a slightly bottlenecked cartridge?
I picked up a 40-82 Win barrel the other day, and since I already have a 40-82 Crossno that Shoots real well with Swiss BP, I thought I'd go a different way with this cartridge.

Never tried it myself, but a buddy was getting about 2000 fps out of a 375 H&H using it. That's some powerful stuff. At $35/lb I never have been inclined to burn any.

Yep, I couldn't remember if it was 10 oz or a pound. A pound size can anyhow. Still, I don't have any use for it myself. Does anybody here know what it's made of?

I tried it in my 45/70 but with crummy accuracy. We use it in our inlines and love it.
Life's too short to shoot an ugly gun.

I used it in my 45/90 and 45/70 with really good results, quite accurate and clean shooting, but I personally just don't see any reason to use it for these rounds. Obviously it's not BP so if a person is not going to shoot BP then there are better smokeless choices out there for a lot less cost. For a muzzle loader this stuff is great because of the lack of fouling and it's non-corrosive nature, it's much more like smokeless than any of the other BP subs. Bottom line is there are several better powder choices at a lot less cost for regular smokeless loading and for cartridges like the 45/70 or 45/90 if BP loads are desired what's the point in using BH 209 or any other sub for that matter?
