This is the second mold cut. The nose needs some work still.
I'm even more convinced, now that I've seen this, that this will be an excellent boolit for my 7 TCU and 7x30 Waters. I can hardly wait to cast a few and shoot them.

Suggestins for which gas checks to use with this one?

I've used both Hornady and Gator checks on my slugs. I sent some Hornady checks to Ballisti-Cast to use for a guide.

Thanks Edd. I am partial to Hornady anyway so I'll get some now and be ready when mine arrives.

We got the nose cleaned up. We are making a few more minor changes to our programming and then getting one cut and sent out to Edd. We're around 6 molds deep into trials and have been getting molds casting bullets between 130.9 to 131.3 grains in 92:6:2 lead which translates to 134.5 to 135 grains in wheel weights.

Sorry had to post it. The bullets were dropping at .290" instead of .288" with this mold so we have to cut another one with a smaller diameter and get it sent to Edd. We also made new sprue plates with a wider funnel for the lead to pour into. They are much easier to pour with and make it a lot harder to overflow and get lead in the wrong cavity.

I'm thinking that "ditch" is going to make sprue runoff almost eliminated.

We just made up some sprue plates without a trough. If you want this style on the mold instead of the standard style with the trough send us an email to sales@ballisti-cast.com with 7mm Thor in the subject specifying you want the sprue plate without a trough. Otherwise you will receive the standard sprue plate on your mold.

The trough is .100" deep and the sprue plate is .250" thick.

Just finished up a mold that casts .2885" bullets. We're sending it out to Edd tomorrow for approval and then will cut the rest once we hear from him.

    Thumbs up It's a go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I received the test mold this morning. I promptly fired up the pot with straight COWW lead. I cast up about 100 boolits. I am pleased to say the least. Boolits dropped out with no problem after the mold was up to temp. Dimensionally it is perfect. This mold was spec-ed at .2885" diameter and that is exactly what I got. The weight is supposed to be 135 grains naked. See for yourselves what I got. Here is some eyecandy for you all.

I'll be contacting Ballisti-Cast ASAP to get these into production. BTW, notice the new B-C handles on the mold. In my opinion, I am happy I opted for a set.
