I have been shooting the Miha HPs for some time. I really enjoy them. BUT quite a few of my sixguns, especially my three Smith 45 acp/AR guns are wanting a bit harder of a bullet for best results. There is the RUB. A 18 BHN hollowpoint in a 45 acp or AR case at 750 to 850 fps is simply not going to give you the desired expansion that the same bullet at 10-12 BHN will. The harder bullets dont seem to want to skid or show signs of leading in my guns. So, what I propose is this:
A 45 Miha cast HP mold that drops a .454" bullet at 250 grains in HP form.
A gas check option, with grease grooves at the gas check and forward.
This bullet can be the LFN, 640, or SWC nose profile. We have had good success with all 3.
This will let us shoot a SOFTER bullet that will expand, at 45 acp/AR velocity, with excellent accuracy and NO leading issues!! It should also be great in the Mountain Guns. Any thoughts?? Have we already run a bullet like this???
