What year are these primers?

As the title says, can anyone tell me the year that CCI boxed there primers like this. These are small pistol primers number 500. Thanks in advance.

I've used all those era primers. Just been to long to remember when. If there is a printed or stamped lot or code number, it can be siphered out. I've done it.

Red box is late 1970’s to early 1980’s, at least that’s the dates on mine.
I think the green is older, but don’t know.

Yes,...70s and early 80s production. I have some from the early 70s when CCI still went by Cascade Cartridge Inc. As long as they have been properly stored, they should still go bang reliably.

I still have several red CCI boxes from the late 70’s. Not sure I’ve ever seen a green box.

It'll be in tiny print, but sometimes there is a copyright date typed on packaging labels.
They use one label for several years, but if there is a date, it'll tell you the era it was printed.

Doesn't really matter, they will all work fine. I'm still using all of those, and I think the box with black on it is the oldest. I'd say late sixties or early seventies on that one. This box has a zip code address, so that puts it at least after "63'. jd

I started buying primers around 1973 or so.
I believe that the Cascade diamond pattern box is pre 1970s for sure.

+1 on 1970 or earlier for the 'diamond-pattern' boxes. I got out of the Army in mid '69 and was reloading again by the end of the year. IIRC, CCI SPs were $.89/100 @ Lorrie's Sports in downtown Urbana and (maybe?) a little less at the K-mart on the opposite side of town.

Zip codes were introduced in 1963. So the green boxes are likely prior to that.

I am still using primers like the red box and green and white box that I bought in 1973. I don't have any like the diamond box.

Do those say "made by the good ol boys"? I got a laugh out of That when I was using up primers last year out of boxes just like both of those. All went bang

have posted this before; in my primer stash are thousands of these early 70 and 80's primers, I shoot then often without any issues finding them as good as all the new primers out there. I got them all from buying out the reloading primers, black powder, shotgun ammo and lead boolits from a local pawn shop that no longer wanted to carry them, and for pennies on the dollar! Someone else beat me to the rifle and pistol ammo. The sell out was to bring their insurance costs way down.

I still have some of the green/white boxed Large Rifle primers. They have to be old because they are marked $6.75 a box! But, they work perfectly.
