Shot the .310 Cadet in competition today

    Team.

I run a monthly shoot at our local club. Mostly MLers but we welcome cartridge rifles too. Today I shot my .310 Cadet loaded with the duplex load I have been working on. Boolits were both CBE 320-120 and 325-125 which over 50m shoot the same POI. 46 consecutive rounds without wiping and great accuracy limited only by my offhand shooting ability. The wee rifle allowed me to shoot the top score of the day. Great day.

Sounds like a lot of fun, Jeff.

One of these days I wil find a Cadet that is both affordable and in good shape. They aren't that common over here.

Good going, I shot my 297-230 Morris at the Alberta Victorian Rifle man shoot last month and it was fun...the .22LR's are louder.

Any particular reason for the BP loads in the .310? It was always a smokeless cartridge.

'Cos I can't get it to shoot smokeless for the life of me. Haven't given up yet though. Tell you what. I shot an awful lot less powder than all the other shooters yesterday. My loads were burning 14gr of Swiss 3Fg with a 3.8gr kicker of H4227.

    .310

    Jeffin NZ -

    Howdy !

Say, by any chance... have you tried IMR4759 or XMR 5744 powders ?

These are a "smokeless" alternative to BP.

Also, " Trailboss " powder supposedly has pressure curve characteristics closer to that of BP, than those of other smokeless powders.

Both IMR4759 and Trailboss have given me good groups ( J-words ), when fired in my .35 Remington Marlin M-336 XLR.

Best of luck in your endeavors !

    With regards,

Good doin's with the Cadet. Neat little rifle and cartridge! A few months back I let a nice one slip through my fingers at a local auciton....still disappointed in me.

From what I can track down, these "Cadet" bayonets were made from shortened 07 blades with a fixing the same as the bigger MH during WW2 for the home guards. This one has a shortened scabbord as well.
