A LER scope base for a bare 03A3 barrel with no handguard would have to be custom made.

No permanent mods to your rifle besides some inlet sanding.

    Your link was not good...

"some inlet sanding" would be considered modification when you're talking about a valuable collectible rifle.

And as far as that goes... this Jmeck scope mount requires more than "some inlet sanding" on a 1903 Springfield. That statement is very misleading and downright false. The 1903 is bedded much tighter/closer than a Mosin-Nagant rifle. As such you can't simply sand the inletting to fit this mount.

No where on the mfg webpage does it state suitability for the 1903 Springfield.

Are you associated with the manufacturer somehow?

you can get surplus bolts for the springfield that are made for scopes. probably for the sniper model. really need to drill and tap it and mount the scope as low as it will go. I have a weaver rear base that is for the a-3, I think.

I love these pics of the various scout mounted milsurps.

I have a few, and I've found that the scout mount is real good because it allows the shooter to see around the scope also.

I don't know, but I was told: it's hard to run with the weight of gold.
Other times I've heard it said: it's just as hard with the weight of lead.

    don,

i got an ati scope mount for an enfield no4 mk2 through amazon and am very pleased. the only mod to the rifle is removal of the ladder sight...totally reversible...i've not experienced any shift of impact over 80-100 rds of test ammo and the way it mounts seems to be pretty bulletproof...pardon the pun.

i am not a fan of scout mounts, but that's just me...however, i'm less a fan of b-square...their mini-14 scope mount never made a pretense at holding any kind of zero.
