    6.8 spc lead loads

Anyone have any load data for 110 & 130 grain lead boolits in 6.8 spc.
Will be shot from a RRA 6.8 with 1 in 10 twist.

I have an old ideal RN mold that casts about 134gr. I load it with 18gr of H4895 in my mid length 18" Bison armory 1-11". Functions perfectly, have not crono'd this load yet.

    Well, I tried AA2200, and Reloader 10x.
With the 110g lead boolits 23 grains of 10x worked the best.
With the heavier 130s Reloader 10x worked best, but don't remember the charge weight.

AA2200 didn't group as good as the Reloader 10x with either boolit.
I loaded the rounds in .5 increments from min to max charge
Groups were shot from a bipod with no other support except my shoulder.

bbs70, do you know the speed of these loads? I've already been thinking of picking up some RL-10x.

    No, I'm afraid I don't.
I went by the reloading table for each powder and went for the lightest load that would group well.

Hey guys, iam new to the site but not new to casting. What would you suggest for a 120 grain .277 boolit using imr 4895 (16gr?) or even unique (19gr) in a RRA 16" ar. I use unique for .223 with good results.

DO NOT use 19gr of Unique in the 6.8. However 16-18gr of either 4895 should do well for you and cycle. I believe 19gr of Unique would be a very bad idea in the 6.8.

This morning I loaded up some 130gr lead boolits over 20gr of Imr 4895.
    Went to the range
They would not cycle the action on my RRA 16" 6.8.
I had to hand cycle each round, but they grouped better than the dozen other powders I've tried.
    Back to the drawing board.

For j-word bullets I use mag primers , and my AR loves AA2200 with Reloader 7 a VERY close second,

How much Unique powder would you guys suggest for a 6.8 120 grain hard cast bullet in a RRA 1-10 twist?

Use the books for a similar case size (30-30) and take the minimum loads as maximum using the the same bullet weight. ... felix

Unique is about a hundred powders apart from the ones that normally work well in the 6.8 on the burn rate chart. I have been running 6.8s since 2008 and been lurking or on the 6.8 forums just as long and cant remember anyone using unique for it other than trying to get some subsonic loads.
To much work, not enough time for guns.
