sabot's in a 45-70?

just a dumb idea i came up with last summer and was wondering if any one else has tried this. i have been useing hornady 45 cal sabots with .357 158 gr cast bullets in my 45-70 high-wall any one else have any experiance with this?

About 4 years ago came across some Hornady .45 sabots for the black powder shooters at a gun show.. so for $7.00/50 figured to give them a go too. Tried them at 25 yds first and then on out to 100 yds..got lots of loads that didn't work and here are some that did..

16.5 gr Tboss..one reading..1822 fps...3 shots/50 yds/ 2.16 inch

17.0 gr Tboss.. one reading 1846 fps..3 shots/50 yds....0.40 inch cloverleaf

158 gr PB Lyman wwts .357

12.5 gr. Trailboss..1501..1462..1465 fps...6.0 inch at 50 yds
13.0 gr....1496 1460..n/r 2.10 inch /50 yds
13.5 gr. to 14.5 gr. shot about 2.50 inch avg. and 15.0 gr. TBoss at 1634..1617..1618 fps shot 1.20 inch at 50 yds. 15.5 to 16.5 were over 3.0 inch groups..

150 Rem spz. .357

shot from 12.5 gr Trail boss to 14.5 gr and groups were 2.5 inch to 3.5 inch/50 yds

15.0 gr Trailboss.. 1622 fps..one reading only... 3 shots/ 50 yds..1.0 inch
15.5 gr Trailboss...1630 fps ..one reading only..3 shots/ 50 yds..0.95 inch
