    Medical lead at the recycler

Bought 30 pounds of very hard lead today. Has "SOULE MEDICAL" stamped on it. Hardest stuff I've ever played with. Screwdriver tip hardly scratched it. Any ideas on what this stuff is?

Hacksawed apiece off and tested it on the hardness tester. Didn't know lead could could read 32/34.

Probably NOT lead. Their site only shows lead foils. They do make exercise equipment.

You're right. Getting eyes checked tomorrow. 18/19 BHN it was. Picture exceeds max file size. Got a lot to learn.

This is a molding alloy they sell.

The 156 would probably be the melting temp. Not good boolit stock I would guess.

Might be useful for making chamber casts through. If that is what it is, I would see if anyone wanted to buy some or maybe trade for some lead.

I would not. Unpredictable to bad results are generally the outcome.

Looks like cerrobend. I would definitely not use it for alloying with bullet metal for two reasons:

    1. It contains cadmium, much more toxic than lead.

    2. You should be able to sell that 30 pound for enough profit to buy a lot more real bullet metal. If you don't want to mess with selling it, I'd be glad to trade you pound for pound ww, pure, or linotype for it. I would even pay shipping but I would still be getting the better end of that deal.

    Windows Paint will fix it.
Put in a folder on your computer right click on it, then click edit. and go from there.
Most of those free programs clog up your computer and are spyware that bombard "EVERYONE" with advertisements.
