Scrounging for Sb?

Ok, with WW starting to go the way of the dodo, what is a good, scroungeable substitute for Sb in our mixes? For Sn, we have pewter and lead-free solder (not always cheap, but usually locally available), but what do we have to add Sb to the pot that is generally available?

Bear in mind that this is coming from the perspective of someone coming from a smallish/medium sized town (~45,000) that doesn't have lots of scrap yards, or heavy industry where things that would be common in a metropolitan are not readily available.

I pick up enough lead free solder at yard sales. If you don't have the time to go to yards sales then check around and see if you have a friend that goes to them and have them pick if up for you.

I've heard to check out radiator repair shops, of course they're going away as well, but still a few around.

HArd lead shot is your best/cheapest bet. It takes so little antimony to make a diff, your pure lead could go a long way on a 25# bag of #6 shot.

Before spending too much gas finding it just look up Roto Metals super hard alloy, its 30% SB/70%pb at about $4 a lb. See their ad on this site as they are a sponser.

I know about Rotometals and thanks for those suggestions. But, I am trying to identify "stuff" that might be scroungable. Like "Acme Skyhooks are 80% antimony" or "If you see a Flabistat 1900 at a garage sale, snap it up as it is high in antimony".

Scrounging isn't that simple. Much of what we get may be in ingot form, used wheel weights, or other types of scrap. Even lead pipe has a variety of compositions.
Any sort of type metal is good. Very good.
Dilute your costing wheel weights with pure unless you really need the hardness.
Find a source for range scrap, not a rear source of Sb but a good, general purpose ally.

Lead, and the various alloys, are where you find them. I get all the lead based metal I can. I will figure out what to use it for later.

Now that I have pushed the Rotometals source I must admit I scrounge type metals every time I see them ! Just be aware they are rarely the exact composition published in the manuals or on this Forum !

Triuer words could not be spoken. I defy my guns to tell a difference between 2 or 2.5 percent Sb in a bullet.

I think we sometimes spend way too much time worrying over minute details about alloys when it just doesn't matter.

We have an antimony mine about an hour and a half drive from me. They will sell you ore in 50 pound bags. One of the old timers who have mentored me, bought a bag years ago and smelted it out himself.
