Can't tell for sure, but since I started making shot, doubt I will have enough for a lifetime. I just keep hoarding lead just in case. At the price I pay for lead, I can always just sell it and make money on it if it came to that.

I will collect lead of any kind until my last days on earth, then let my better half scrap it.

JUST GOTTA LOVE THIS JOINT.
Since I became a permanent RVer, I have reduced my lead stockpile quite a bit. These days, I keep about 50-100 lbs of ingots with me and have reduced my firearm collection to only a shadow of its former self.
I'm basically counting the days until I die. I have terminal curmudgeonism and the prognosis is not great.

Kind of ironic, don't ya' think?
JakeBlanton, if your RV ever comes to Amarillo, please give me a
heads up and we will go shooting, rifle, or pistol, or shotgun.

Lifetime supply? Who knows what life holds. I did sell off maybe half my stash when I moved (6-700 lbs), and kind of regret it, but my priorities are different now so I just don't shoot much.
I know how you feel. I figure I have plenty until I start reading about what others have. It's funny how that works - I think it's true whether it's lead, cars, houses, money, etc.. It starts when we're little. We might be happy with the toys we have until we see that Billy down the street has a nicer bike, more Legos, and that new video game.1) I don't shoot much 2) my 400ish lbs is a joke. I'm now feeling woefully inadequate.
Some of us do that - but most of us old casters are looking down the road at what it will cost us to shoot our favorite pistol/rifle in the future when there are no more wheel weights or scroungable lead. The day is coming - just not too soon I hope - I would like to lay in another ton or 2!
I remember when I was shooting 44mags for about 1.5cents a round and that was the most expensive round I shot. 45 ACP's were cheaper and .38's they were even cheaper.
Now if you have to purchase foundry lead - what is your cost?
I don't do any of the old hobbies I use to - play softball, golf, etc. My double pass cured me of those hobbies. Casting and shooting - I can sit down when I need to!

You certainly have a point there. I sure doubt lead is going to get any cheaper or easier to find in the future- quite the opposite. Once we get moved into our new placed and settled in, I might try to accumulate more to make up for what I got rid of.most of us old casters are looking down the road at what it will cost us to shoot our favorite pistol/rifle in the future when there are no more wheel weights or scroungable lead.
I've got over 500# and since I only shoot on my own range I figure it will be enough as I will always be able to go mining the berms of the range. Thinking of making a couple of bullet traps to make that part even easier. But if I ever come across any be sure that I will pick it up, can never have too much
Well if I run out of lead I'll shoot less. So I have "enough"
my brother owns an indoor shooting range
w/ bout 450# on hand i should be ok
I just started casting in the past month, I will only have about 55-60lbs once some lead shows up in the next few days.
Once I get the hang of it (haven't shot my first cast bullets yet, probably Saturday) I will start picking up 25-50lbs or so a month.
Well I have purchased 500lbs of clip on lead wheel weights this year. At my current level of shooting, which isn't nearly as much as I like. I expect I have enough to last me at least 6 years.
My Feedback, (did I buy or sell to you? Please add your Comments)

In the last three generations of my ancestry, there have been 7 that lived beyond 100, so it's in my DNA. I have what I think may last if I stop shooting near the century mark, but than ya never can be sure.
Wish I did.
I'm workin on it!
"The rifle is a weapon. Let there be no mistake about that. It is a tool of power, and thus dependent completely upon the moral stature of its user. It is equally useful in securing meat for the table, destroying group enemies on the battlefield, and resisting tyranny. In fact, it is the only means of resisting tyranny, since a citizenry armed with rifles simply cannot be tyrannized."
