    Pre m27...aac#9...h&g #51...!!!!!!

    Hi All....Finally got around today to trying Accurate Powder #9 in 357....
    We have a winner..!!! Pre M27 5 screw Serial #S83xxx 6" bbl Herret Jordan
    Exhibition Grade Bastogne Walnut grips cut to MY right hand...
    Load is WW cases..CCI 550 primer.. Accurate Powder #9 at 11.5grains..
    Bullet is Hensley & Gibbs #51 sized to .358" 92-6-2 Alloy at a full 160grains...
    Velocity avg 1275 fps...ES 58...SD 18...ten shot avg...this is a starting load...I can go higher but this level of accuracy is gonna be hard to beat...

    but this level of accuracy is gonna be hard to beat...

    It isn't broke, so don't try to fix it.

    I wouldn't change a thing about that load.

    That is VERY impressive. Those folks at S & W back in those days really knew how to make a fine revolver.

    Can someone describe the boolit? I don't know H&G numbers.

    H&G #51 is a plain base SWC, around 158 grains cast of wheelweight, one large lube groove, crimp groove. I think this was the original .357 Magnum bullet. At least one of the best, if not the best, .38 Special and .357 Mag. bullet available.

    I've got a M27-2 as well with the 8 3/8" barrel. I've tried 11.0gr of AA9 with the 150KT boolit from RCBS. You inspire me to get it back out on the range and wring it out some more. Don't change a thing.
