Very interesting, i don't think it has changed a whole lot today except for the paper hulls!
Raisin' Black Angus cows, outta gas, outta money, outta tags, low on boolits, but full 'a hope on the Rocky Mountain Eastern Slope!
Why does a man with a 7mag never panic buy? Because a man with a 7mag has no need to panic!
"If you ain't shootin', you should be reloadin' if you ain't reloadin' you should be movin', if you ain't movin', somebody's gonna come by and cut your head off and put it on a stick!" Words to fight by, from Clint Smith
Yes sir--as they say, "plastics make it possible" and the shotshell has really improved since back in the day.
I'm still roll-crimping some shells and using fiber/felt wads in some loads, though.
Some guns need fiber/felt for proper performance. My 40 some year old 20 double imp/mod does not like one piece plastic wads.
Oh, the good old days when you could get shells like you wanted them. Peters High Velocity, Remington Express and Super-X. Any shot and any load. Federal Monarks...."the rabbit's best friend". I was a little one then and saved my nickels and dimes for shells. A box of Peter's High Velocity .410s were a whopping $1.25 in those days and .22 shorts were $.41 a box./beagle
