    Black Powder Sources

Where do you get your powder? The last place I bought black from has stopped selling it and there is no one lese close. I see a couple of on-line sources but they seem to be expensive especially after shipping and Haz Mat.

I may be just experiencing price shock because I haven't bought any black powder in 10 years.

Powder Inc (powderinc.com) was recommended by someone here, I tried them and found them very fair and easy to deal with.

Powder Inc and Grafs are the best.
When you figure the price of gas and the time and trouble to drive somewhere to pick up some powder, and then you pay the dealers hazmat and shipping (you just don't see it directly but it's in his price) the shipping and hazmat don't really amount to much.

PowderInc. Great folks, quick service. I buy 10# at a time, and have no complaints about pricing.

Thanks to all. Graffs & Sons looks promising as does powderinc. I also found Maine Powder House that seems to have the best prices for Swiss.
Anyone have experience with Graffs Powder?

I've bought from powderinc.com and grafs.com with no problems. I usually get 10lbs every 6 months so the haz-mat fee gets diluted somewhat. Grafs used to give you a pretty good dealer discount if you have a C&R license but on my last order they told me that the only way they would sell me BP with a dealer discount is if I gave them a Type 1 or some other kind of FFL other than an 03, so I've gone with powderinc.com since then. I have to admit that I haven't tried the Grafs branded powder yet (I use Swiss only) but ought to give it a try one of these days.

I get my black powder from John and Charlotte at http://www.blackpowderva.com/ as well but I'm super lucky as my shooting buddy drives by there often and picks it up for me.

No shipping and HazMat charges make a huge difference in the final price on shippable amounts of powder!

I've used Powder Inc. Easy process, reasonable pricing and prompt shipping.

I smuggle it in from another state, being that our commie governor has made it illegal to ship here.

    Thanks All,
I am trying to get a few of my buddies to pool our order to help soften the S&H/Hazmat charges. It would be great if I could find a local dealer but they all seem to say it's too much of a hassel because of he storage regulations.

Not sure where I'm going to order from but I do want to try KIK.

At the moment the only place you can get KIK from is Powder Inc.
