    Is it lead?

I was taking apart a washing machine for clothes and i found two weights just inside the top of it. They are star shaped with 4 points and they had springs attached to them i guess to damped some sound? They are very hard but can be scratched with wire cutters and i was able to make a good dent using wire cutters where the material gets thin and forms a hole for the springs to attach. The stuff is non magnetic too so it is not steal. Do you think it is lead? Ill try to attach photos of the stuff if i can figure out how. How can i figure out if it is lead or not?

Smack it on concrete and see if it makes a dull thud or a ringing noise. Also, hit it with a hammer and see if it dents easily.

You can also try the acid test to see if it is zinc.
    Pictures may help too.

Wire cutters are pretty hard. They can scratch mild steel, or zinc, and many other metals.
I would be careful to not put those in known lead untill you figure out what it is.
Bumpo's advice should be the first test.
