    Smile $150 per 5000 9mm's

The local gun shop had Federal small pistol match primers on special for $107 per 5000 this week. I got 5000 at that price and have a good start on loading them in 9 mm's for my Beretta 92. I figure it will take 2 1/2 pounds of Win 231 to load them all up. Thats about $40 for the powder. I have a 5 gallon bucket of brass (all range pickup). For the bullet I'm using the Mihec 125 HP. So all added up it's costing me $150 for 5000 rounds loaded with HP's. Sure, I have considerable time casting, sizeing and lubeing. It's something I enjoy doing. This comes out to 3 cents per loaded round. Rimfire ammo costs more per round. Is it worth it? I think so.

I get them for $27 per K out the door... though $21 per K for match and I'd have taken home at least 10K...

    What a deal.
I hope the dealer limited purchases to one per customer.

The best I know of is $135 for 5000 at Hi-Tech but of course unless you buy a bunch, the shipping eats you up. I also would buy all they had for $107. -- Bill --

    Sorry

I didn't mean to sink this thread or hijack it.

What I meant was, If you don't have $107/5,000 deals Grafs is the best deal I've found on Federal Primers, good service and they support this place.

Guys, you buy primers when you see a great deal, can't snooze on that when it happens.

When I need primers on a sustained basis for a great price, I buy Tula from Dagammo.com and delivered to my door. THey replicate Winchester primers in all my pet loads.

I have shot over 26,000 Tula primers in the last 19 months: flawless performance ! Great price too !

I was at a small local gun show several years ago and I stopped by a table that had a couple of boxes of CCI large pistol primers sitting on it. The price was $16.00 each and as I was paying the man he casually said he had more. I hesitated and told him no thanks these will last me quite a while. I am still kicking myself.
