thanks WildcatBrass....actually it was pretty easy....just tedious fiine tuning...

after i shot the video of my wife running, I ran 60 through in exactly one minute....much more than i can cast in a minute for sure....

lube pressure and temp are, of course, VERY important ....

    from McMaster-Carr www.mcmaster.com/#

    1 - 8812k32 air regulator
    2 - 45045K48, flow control valves
    2 - 5779K157, tube fitting swivel ell, 3/8tube to 1/8mips
    20' x 5112K65, 3/8 flexible nylon tubing
1 - 6498K872, stainless steel cylinder, pivot mount, double acting 1-1/16" bore x 9" stroke

    1 - 6498K72, pivot bracket
    1 - 6071K14, forged clevis rod end
    1 - 8924K33, 1045 carbon steel rod, 3/8" dia x 72"long (still have 60" left)
2 - 6391K403, bronze sleeve bearing, 3/8" od x 5/16" id x 1/4" long (to bush the forged clevis end to fit 6498K647)

the forged clevis rod end was attached to the 3/8" rod (threaded the rod to accept and used red locktite to secure) end with a slight bend to allow for the cylinder to hang vertically and parallel to the Star...the center of the end of the forged clevis end was set at 4.5" to the center of the actuator arm shaft on the Star...the end of the cylinder was set to full extension when the actuator arm was in the full up position...

That is fantastic ! The simplicity of the pnuematics compared to electric or hydraulic drives. This system could no doubt be adapted reloading presses. Great idea, excellent execution. Good job !

Cost of parts listed by wymanwinn in case anyone is thinking about doing this conversion.

    114.30 #4EY75, IR Foot Pedal Valve 4way-2position

    29.43 - 8812k32 air regulator
    45.38 - 45045K48, flow control valves
    10.20 - 5779K157, tube fitting swivel ell, 3/8tube to 1/8mips
    15.40 - 5112K65, 3/8 flexible nylon tubing
    48.61 - 6498K872, stainless steel cylinder
    7.93 - 6498K647, rod end
    3.20 - 6498K72, pivot bracket

    6.97 - 8924K33, steel rod, 3/8" dia x 72"long
    1.68 - 6391K403, bronze sleeve bearing

    McMaster-Carr sub total 176.06
    Grainger sub total 114.30
    + Shipping

Not a bad price at all considering how well it seems to work. If you have pneumatic parts laying around your workshop, you may be able to save a few dollars.

Is there a part for a hand operated switch that might me cheaper than the foot operated switch? Could someone provide a link please. I've got to set mine up like this. My two sons and I cast and size/lube 15K 9mm each winter plus a few thousand .40. This set up would be a real boost!
    Thanks.

OK. I've got everything on the way to get the Star set up on semi-auto. I followed wymanwinn's shopping list, but went with the foot control suggested by mktacop's less expensive foot control. Will post up when I get this going.
    Thanks again.

I have five Star Lubersizers and it looks like everyone of them will have to get this modification...

Then I have two Master Casters, (Bought before the price increases) I will follow along closely with as the MasterCaster gets it's set up.

Thanks for all of the great ideas... You guys are very professional with your modifications and with shareing your ideas. For that I'm very thankful...

most any metal fab shop can bend the 1/4" sheet....i used 1/4 for the ability to tap attachment holes...
