Made this today and works just fine, was quite easy to do, am trying to post pics so we'll see what happens.

Looks good to me.
I like it, wish I had thought of it when I "fixed" mine, I just used a coupe of cable ties and a spring. I will look around the shop and see if I have something similar to what you have.

Take a coil spring and wind it around one the columns that the the unit goes up and down on. once you get the first coil started just keep turning the spring and it will wind itself around the column.
