here are the drawings, hope you can make them out, my camera sucks. the disc punch is made out of 3/4" stock, drill a hole close to the end the same size of the disc diameter, cut a slot toward the bottom, the edge of the slot should be right at the back edge of the hole, that way the punch rod will be easier to remove. the punch rod is the drill bit you drilled the hole with, grind the shank end of the drill bit flat, with sharp edge. use a plastic or wood mallet to punch out the disc. the forming rod is made out of 2 pieces, the long piece is the same dia. as the disc dia. the short piece is the same dia. as the shank dia. as the boolit shank dia. use the closest size of rod you can, chuck the short piece in a drill motor and use emery cloth or sand paper to bring it down to size. drill a hole in the long piece about 3/8" deep, it must be in the center, epoxy or loctite the short piece into it. that is the forming rod.the die body is a 1" piece of stock, it can be round or square, drill a hole the same size as the check diameter all the way through, then drill out the hole the same size as the disc dia. drill it 3/4" deep. break the edge between the transition of the disc size hole and the check size hole, you want it smooth. to use, punch out a disc and put into the hole in the die body, you may have to push it down with the shank end of the drill bit, then insert the forming rod into the die body and wack with a soft mallet. you now have a check. I made the die body out of alu. for the photos, I don't know how long it would last. I think brass would last a while, steel would last forever.brass would be easier to work with. you can make the check maker with a hand drill, thats what I used to make this one with, but a drill press would make it a whole lot easier. photos follow.- I used a cheap transfer punch set to make this one, it is 30 cal. heat the transfer punches to anneal them so they can be drilled. good sourse for odd size stock.
