    .410 shell holder

A buddy made me up a sizeing die for the .410s, he bored out an old 38 die and I did the final polishing, anybody know what shell holder will fit a .410? I can't find the one I had and don't remember the number. Will a 444 holder work?

.444 or .303 Brit will do nicely.

I went to my gunshop owner and we tried everything on the list 44mag. 444marlin, 45 long colt and a few more, nothing, then I said that someone recomended 303 british, fit like a charm, BTW he was opening up blister packed shell holders and taping them back up when they didn't fit, we were using his unfired shells too...............

If they are Magtech solid brass, the only thing I found that would fit them is a holder for 38-40 & 44-40 Winchester. It's a #35 RCBS. The 44 mag and 444 were both too small.

A .410 base is the same size as a .44 magnum case rim, what's the problem ???

The rim fit allright until it came to the body of the shell, the brass part was too big to go in. The shells were unfired factory shells. The only one that they fit was the .303 British...

Hello, an RCBS #43 shell holder is a perfect fit for a .410 bore case. Bought one today, and yes it fits.

So you could cross-reference with other makers, the metallic shells it fits are listed on the package as these:

    .223 Win Super Short Magnum
    .243 Win Super Short Magnum
    .25 Win Super Short Magnum
    .270 Winchester Short Magnum
    7mm Winchester Short Magnum
    .300 Winchester Short Magnum
    .325 Winchester Short Magnum

You could not however punch out the primer using this shell holder, since the hole in the middle is too small. You could bore it out, but being hard metal it might be a tremendous pain. There are easier ways to remove .410 primers anyway.

The #9 Redding holder is a perfect fit but punching out primers only removes the primer and not the anvil cup so there are better ways to remove primers. I set the hull on a washer and use a primer punch rod from a Lee Loader and my arbor press or you could just whack it out in the whackamole fashion. Gp

I find a certain satisfaction in using the whackamole method. does a great job of relieving stress

A 9.3x74R shell holder also works with Cheddite hulls.
