    Maker's Mark and Carnuba

I just heard a remark, indicating maker's mark might not be using carnuba I am hoping this is untrue, as I have a clamper bringing me several bottle's worth a month.

Tell your Clamper friend that you know it isn't his fault, but it is not "satisfactory" for the use you intend. So sayeth the brethren.

I will let him know. He and his friends were having fun selecting bottles by the amount of "wax" on them.

I am trying to cut costs because health issues have left me NO money for my favorite hobby. But I will definitely go to Randy if/when I can buy some.

Are cheeses still being dipped in carnuba? I have a bit I scrounged from a cheese tasting thing at costco a few years back.

I have carnauba wax flakes from RandyRat, and they are much harder and slippery than any cheese covering I have ever seen. For it to be carnauba wax, it has to be hard and shiny. If it's soft and dull, it's some lesser variety of wax.

In fact, here is a block of the wax that many use for protecting cheese.
CONTAINS: A formulation of paraffin and microcrystalline wax, food grade coloring
    No mention of carnauba:

So, it's likely that even your saved/aged cheese wax isn't the right stuff.
