Above is a basic Peabody, but although simple, there are quite a few different varieties.
    Check out this site:

    http://militaryrifles.com/Peabody&M/Peab&Mart.htm

The Varieties of Peabody Based Rifles Generally:

-- The Providence Tool Co Peabody Rifles:

    -- M1866 Canadian
    -- M1867 Swiss
    -- M1868 Roumanian
    -- M1868 Spanish
    -- M1870 Spanish
-- British Martini-Henry, Mark I thru Mark IV
-- Roumanian Peabody-Martini (Manufactured by Styer)
-- Turkish Peabody-Martini (about an exact copy of the British Mark I Martini-Henry) manufactured by Providence Tool Company for the Ottoman Turk Empire.

Westley-Richards internal hammer Peabodys, and W-R varieties of Martinis :
-- Peabody-Wessley-Henry / Westley Richards (The Nepalese variety)
-- Greek Mylonas (A Peabody variant, however only one photo known)
    -- Bavarian Werder
    -- Krag-Petersson

According to their website, the new Providence Tool Peabody Rifle parts are not interchangeable, and will not fit older Peabody Rifles.

As a fellow peabody owner (50 cal rimfire) dixie gun works still has some parts available, no center fire breechblocks or firing pins. The only breechblocks they have are for the rim fire version. Frank
