MiHec 2 cavity Brass Hollow Base 45-70 mold
This is a run of an earlier design produced as a Lee GB and by BRP as the 462-420 PB. This will be a two cavity, single crimp groove, cramer brass hollow base mold that is suitable for the 45 caliber rifles. The weight will be about 392 gr as a hollow base and 415 gr. as a solid with a blank pin. It is an accurate as can be attested to by several board members here. A blank plug for a flat base could provided as well as the hollow base plug. The following is the discussion thread.

We will need fifteen to commit to this. We will run this until we get the number we need or more. Price is $90 with one set of hollow base pins included plus $8 for the extra blank pin set if wanted plus $15 shipping. This mold will be cut in two diameters. One will be 0.460" and the other will be the original 0.462". The smaller 0.460"mold will be 0.002" smaller in all regards except the hollow base diameters for those with tighter throated rifles.

Edit: If the HB pins are not suitable for reversal to a solid, the blank pins come with the price of the mold. If you do not want the HB pin sticking out of the base of the mold, in the case of reversable pins, you can order a set of blank pins for a smooth mold bottom.

Edit: one 0.460" mold will mean you get a hollow base mold....one 0.460" mold with extra blank pins means you get both pin sets (hollow base and blank).........one 0.460" mold with blank pins means you get only the blank pins for a flat base mold...... all examples for a 0.460" diameter mold.... a 0.462" diameter mold would have the same designations.

I'm interested in sizing it down to 0.453 for my Pacific Northwest-legal inline muzzleloader. I'd think that would work with BHN 5-8 lead.

How long is it? Here in the NW, Oregon requires a muzzleloader conical to be no longer than twice its diameter. I don't think WA or ID have this limitation, however.

O.A.L. = 1.02" which should meet your requirements. Best to size it down in a push thru sizing die.

Is the calibration to wheel weights, as usual?
Are the lube grooves adequate for a BP load from a 32" trapdoor barrel?
