When crimped in the crimp groove (using .45 Colt brass) this boolit will be too long for your Colt SAA cylinder in .45 Colt. When crimped in .45 Auto Rim brass this boolit will not be too long for your Smith 1917.

The below picture that you are referring to illustrates which make of revolvers chambered in .45 Colt that this boolit will fit.

    Hope this helps,
    -Matt

Dutch4122 - Thanks for clearing up what guns this bullet fits.

45 2.1 - Please cancel my order for this mold. Sorry for the trouble and my not being clear about the guns it fits before I ordered.

I believe the minimum number is 15. We currently have 16 molds spoken for.

I like this design but am wondering about the fact that it casts at .455. My bore is .451 and my current moulds drop bullets between .4515 and .452 so I don't worry about skipping sizing if I don't feel like doing it. Will the large bullet absolutely require sizing and if so is it good to size down a bullet that far? (I use Lyman #2 mixed 50/50 with fairly pure junkyard leads as lead ww are hard to find here, and Lee liquid Alox, just in case those variables matter.)

Please excuse my ignorance, I have learned so much from you guys already and really appreciate you educating me in my new hobbie (new to casting, not to shooting) Thanks guys

If I'm allowed to jump in on a group buy with my first post here, I'd like 1 mold with large and penta pins.

Will RCBS handles work on this mold?

You should have little trouble sizing down in a Lyman, RCBS or Lee push thru sizers with the alloy your useing.

No, not without alterations to it. These molds are made for the Lee commercial six cavity handles or the handles made by MiHec.
    Your on the list.

Since the primary focus of this bullet is for the 45 AR, should it perform just as well in a Ruger blackhawk 45acp convertible cylinder as well?

In a Ruger, roll crimping would not be possible. These heavy slugs might move foreward under recoil.......

I wouldn't worry about the slug moving forward under recoil too much. A lot of people in the past have loaded heavier boolits in the Rugers with complete success.

I have no problem with this boolit moving forward under recoil in my Ruger Bisley blackhawk .45 Colt; or my S&W 625-6 Mountain Gun .45 AR.

If you have a Ruger with a ACP cylinder and are considering this mold consider the ACP cylinder is easily cut on a lathe from the rear to accept the 45 Auto Rim case as well. Thus set up, you can crimp away.

Nonetheless, this will be an awesome bullet and I cant wait to get mine....
