Just wondering if I am the only one interested in a multi-cavity hollow base mold? It could be a Cramer style brass mold based on Lee's 459-405-HB mold, only I would like to see a crimp groove for the Marlins.

This boolit was a Lee GB and was also made by BRP under the title of 462-420 PB. It has a very good reputation for being accurate in the Marlins. MiHec could make this in a brass cramer easily.
As cast weights: 415 gr. solid..... 392 gr. hollow base

would be interested if bullet weight was in 350-400 gr range.
45 2.1 that is exactly what I am looking for. Would anyone else be interested?
If this could be made with the nose a bit smaller then the base I have some customers who would love this bullet, so I would buy one.
I'd be interested in a sturdier mould for the lee 459-405 HB. A 2C would be fine for me.

45 2.1: is that 420gr BEFORE the HB, or as a solid, and will weigh, what about 30gr less with HB
I gotta say that is one great looking boolit.
do you think the HB would help/hurt/not effect the microgroove rifles? or is the OD the more important figure?
I have the Lee mould and it is a great shooting boolit in my trapdoor
????? what do you mean?
Weights added above jpeg in post #2. In Marlins the OD is most important. In trapdoors, where it fits, the OD can be important............ but some trapdoors don't allow that (along with some of the old blackpowder rifles) as the chamber won't allow it. Those are the rifles where a soft ductile hollow base comes into its own.
I could be interested. Maybe this could be offered in 2 diameters. 1 for Marlins and 1 more suitable for Trapdoors with larger groove dimensions. Are we talking single cavity or more?
I would be interested in one for Marlins and no bigger than .460" 2 cavity.
I mean this bullet is very similar to the Big Lube 400 grainer but the nose diameter is too fat for some rifles as the nose is engraving on the rifling. I guess what I/they need is more of a bore rider design. I have some but nothing with a flat nose like this one and some guys like that for hunting.
OK, I see what you want.
This was designed for the usual older Marlins. Reports we heard here says it fit quite well and shot better.
This could be done easily with the cherry cut to 0.002" less diameter for the tighter rifles (OD would be 0.460") and the older Marlins and trapdoors taking the original 0.462" size via machine orbiting. One cherry for all with two diameters.
45 2.1 thank you for your input, I personally would really like to see the design you posted become a group buy.
I apologise for the silly question. I'm a newb to BP. I take it this will be suited for that task?
