    8 gauge question

It appears possible to turn down the extra thickness on industial shells to make working 8 gauge empties. Anyone doing this and what cases are prefered? thanks

While it is possible to turn the extra thickness off an 8 gauge industrial case and make them work, it's a pain. What I did was make up a die that was about an inch thick that I pressed the cases in to with my arbor press. The hole in the die was tapered so I pushed them into the larger end and then in to the smaller end and they were then small enough to chamber. Not fast, but you only have to do it once.

As for cases, the only ones I have are the Remington green plastic ones. I don't shoot the old gun a lot so I haven't looked for any others as I bought one hundred of them.
BIG OR SMALL I LIKE THEM ALL, 577 TO 22 HORNET.

I do it also for 8ga kiln cases.particulars on the
12ga From Hell thread. Here is before and after.
i got idea from UK hunters who use them for
their 8ga doubles. The one in middle isn't swaged.

They really Don't have to be swaged
the complete thickness of the added double
cup, just enough to go in chambers which
are oversize by .012" or so on all the
    chamber's base sizes.. Ed
