Got a LBT 458-260-WFN-GC mold laying around and was wondering if it might work in a Marlin guide gun. Anybody tried light weights in the Marlins?

If it is one of Verals molds it should work fine, but I don't usually load anything that light except in catsneeze loads. I've run some of the Lee boolits for the ROA out of one of my guide guns ahead of 10.0 AA#5 (same as Unique) for a quiet pig load. Gave me about 1050fps and not too bad accuracy (2"@25yds).
Old enough to know better, young enough to do it anyway!

Been thinking about trying out another 45-70. Don't really need another one, now using a New Englander with a fast twist .458 bore barrel, but it would be a fun lever gun.
On that LBT mold, got it for a 1909 Colt that has the oversized square edged throats for shooting black powder in a battle. The as-cast weight is heavier than optimum for the sights so was thinking about getting Erik (HPM) to put huge hollow points in it and make a top punch to match. Would basically end up being a seated out gas checked hollow point wadcutter, which is a good thing.
