    chop'em up

Just picked up a couple moisens m91/30. Thinking about cutting the bbl of one to 18" and shooting 185-200 grn boolits @ around 1600-1700 fps (guesstimated).

Has anyone tried this with any luck? Thinking about a good beater for 50-75yds. throw it in the bottom of a 10' flatbottom boat while fishing the river. I think it might work better than using a more expensive firearm in a situation in which it will be getting wet and possibly submerged. They are easy to clean and are not at all expensive to replace.
It don't make much sense that commonsense don't make no sense nomore

I've never chopped up a whole one, but I have built a rifle (or two) from parts gathered from around cyberspace. My favorite one I cut down from a Hungarian M44 barreled receiver I bought for $14.95 from Desert Outfitters before they went out of business. I cut it just behind the bayonet lug for about 18"or so of barrel length. Re-crowned it using a a carriage bolt and valve ginding paste. Added to that parts from two bubba-ed up Chinese M53's ruined by a previous owner, some parts from a Russian 91/30, and a few odd piece from God-knows-where, and I have a handy little scout rifle that shoots 150 grain j-words much to my satisfaction.
