With the low velocity* fire lapping loads the yawing on target is definitely going away.

*266469 paper patched with Clover fine grit, .22LR case full of Unique and quilt batting tuft over the powder.

Lo these many months later, after relocating across the continent, the barrel has been polished some more by fire lapping. And it's better than it used to be. The yawing on target appears to have stopped, at least at thirty yards anyhow. Need to wrap up another batch and sit down at 50 and 100.

The patches being used give .270 diameter for the part inside the case neck (two wraps) and .273 in front of that (three wraps), in essence creating a heel base type boolit with the nine pound rag paper and #266469.

Maybe the #266469 cavities should be modified to partly get rid of the depth of the lube grooves and increase the forward section diameter to allow creating .273 / .274 with only two wraps. Not real sure about this though due to the .008 or so deep rifling. Still learning about the little Dutch carbine, still scratching my head, still having fun.

Some day soon perhaps it will be time to shop for a scope that wouldn't look terribly out of place on a cute little piece dating back to 1915.

A friend of mine had one of these Dutch 6.5's years ago. It was a beautiful little sporter carbine put together by Rigby with express sights on a full length solid ribbed barrel. Gorgeous little gun. He asked me to help him load some ammo so he could use it. We used .303 British cases and ran them into my 6.5x54MS dies until the shoulder was a light crush fit. I used the Hornady 160 grain round nose bullet with Lyman's suggested 6.5MS loads and IMR4895. It shot well at 100 yards and we fine tuned the load until it shot right on the original 100 yard sight leaf at 100 yards. Wish I could have talked him out of that rifle, but in the end he gifted it to his son to use for hunting up in the BC interior where he worked and lived.
I may have passed my "Best Before" date, but I haven't reached my "Expiry" date!

Some polishing rounds set aside to dry and then be cleaned up and prepped for firing.

My Westley Richards Mannlicher-Schoenauer had a badly eroded barrel, so I cut it at a shallow step about four inches in front of the receiver, bored it and inserted a Douglas No2 contour barrel. I bored the stub with a taper pin reamer and turned the barrel to match, except for a flange about ⅓in. thick which butted against the stub.

Some scopes not entirely contemporary with these rifles, but in keeping without sacrificing modern optical standards, are the external-adjustment Bausch and Lombs. Most of them are available in good condition from HE Gibbs, including the Mannlicher-Schoenauer mount which I think could be made to fit, although the Mannlicher-Schoenauer has a charger guide.

I'm not into militaries, but I have some 6.5x ??? It is rimmed and has military FMJ bullet. I know
it's not Sweede, Jap,or Carcano. Can some one post a picture of this cartridge with head stamp.
These are Berdan no doubt? The listing of 6.5s are mind boggling and it seems everyone had their
    own version.

The head stamps are just .303 'cause they're home made.

What are the loads you're using and where did you find the data? I've got the Lee cruise missile a 140 and a 150 Lyman molds to fool with in a 6.5x53r. Just starting to load for this, looking for all the data I can find.

I've just been trying (off and on, when time allows) to get the barrel to a usable condition with lapping.
Now looking at the ever changing patterns of clean up (heavy sigh) I think it's not going to work well enough.
Perhaps this winter shall tell the tale.

    Uncle!!!

Got a new 6.5 barrel blank. Gonna order a new reamer made to suit my C&H dies. And this presents an opportunity to tweak the cartridge. I can adjust the neck length to suit my boolits.

Too bad no one sells a steampunk scope.

Side note: Seriously considered having it rebored to .338 rifling and new chamber neck, keeping the case body configuration.
Could fire form the brass and neck size with .338 Federal dies.
    Tempting alternative.
