I had been eyeballing it for a month at a local hardwood store. He would not cut the board down so I bought the whole thing.

1 inch thick x 11 inch wide x 12 foot. The whole board looks like that

depending on the weight, that could be oregon maple or tiger maple. eastern maple will weigh about a pound more in a gun stock, maybe more.

Beautiful wood--I love curly maple. Nice find and buy. If enough had been found would have made nice gunstock for smokelpole, IMO. BC

If you like curly maple at good prices, check out Tiger Hunt.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

Love that pattern. It almost looks like Marble slabs.

Some how photos never look as good as seeing it in person.

I look forward to seeing your finished project grips.

dig through the regular maple boards and you won't be able to go more than 5 boards without finding amazing curls

You can laminate that board into a rifle stock. could use a plain piece or walnut piece in the middle, clamp and glue it. actually be more stable than a one piece blank.
