Well, my freezer takes about 5 days to freeze my hand filled plastic ice cube trays. The ice is almost perfectly clear.
As a Makers Mark ambassador, I have a couple pretty nice glasses that make for fine sipping.
A few cubes and a generous "splash" of Makers Mark and I know what it feels like to go fishing, golfing, hunting, shooting or playing a video game in heaven.
Should'a bought a bottle on the way home.

Carnuba-based sealing wax was used for many years on spirits of all kinds. Today it is too expenive and most, if not all, are some kind of cheap lower-temp plastic alloy.

The foil on expensive champagnes and fine wines used to be real tin. Now all are Al foil.

Those little round red cheeses are not carnuba either.....they are a sticky waxy substance of some kind. I melted about 50 of them down and it was a total sticky red mess. REAL carnuba is VERY hard.

I use carnuba flake a lot in making my authentic custom antique furniture finishes and polishes. It is a high melting point vegetable-based wax from the carnuba plant. Used a lot on the shiny coating on pills, as it is 100% natural and actually digestible. Also used in high-end car polish, but sparingly.

You can find the wax at Woodcraft or probably from randyrat on here.

If you boiled your water before making ice cubes it would be easier to get clear ice due to the degasification.
