I have a Beltman bullhide, two layer, belt. It is as stiff as new and around seven years old. His site explains the facts. I remember reading that the two layers have opposing grains and won't stretch like a single layer, no matter the thickness.

Makes sense, kinda like plywood, where each layer has opposing grains. My single layer belts seem to last at least 10 years, wouldn't be worth it to me for the extra work/expense to go 2 layer, especially since I hand sew. With my luck the leather would be fine but I would bust a stitch!

If these belts are still available then I would like one. PM inbound.
