    Data For Rex Powders

This has been collected from Rex themselves and from some of our italian friends that were kind enough to send me data from their manuals and from their experiences. As always your mileage may vary so work up to anything you see here.

I have never seen Rex powders for sale locally or semi-locally (omaha/lincoln/etc). I'm always interested in trying out some new powder tho. Has anybody ever used Rex, and where did you buy it?

13-16gr of Rex 3 works for cast boolit rifle loads - that's as close as they come.

I use 13.5 grs. of Rex.-2 in my 41 swiss with the Lee 310 gr. bullet, Rex powder take up more room in the case with less air space. Hope this helps, Joe

    Wil,
Do you have any information on where the REX powders fall in a burning rate chart?

Also, are they from So. America? Do you know a source?

Lastly, could you describe the shape of the kernals of powder?

    Thanks.

Don't have a chart with Rex on it but this is what I've seen in print:
Rex 0 is similar to Bullseye and WW 231.
Rex 1 is similar to Red Dot and Clays.
Rex 2 is similar to Green Dot and International.
Rex 3 is similar to Universal.

    Made by Nitrokemia in Hungary.

    Kind of a flattened ball.

used rex 2 extensively over the last few days for 38 special, 357 and 45 acp.
I am inpressed with the stability of this powder.
It does smell though. Not bad but it is " pungent".

Green flakes about the size of unique or the other typical alliant powders.

I keep meaning to get a kilo of Rex powder whenever I place an order from PowderValley, but then I forget

Mag or regular small pistol primers??
Either one; whatever you have already (including small rifle primers) since you have to work up the load from scratch anyway. Regular SP primers would be best.

Used 5.5 gn REX 2, 158 swc, FED mag SPP and Magtech regular SPP only a 10 FPS change so no longer buy Mag pistol primers with rex, velocity was just about 930fps

    Wilgen,

thanks for the compilation. I have been using rex powders for trap loads for quite a while now. Their loading manual is pretty skimpy on handgun loads, this helps a bunch.
