    My Spartan accepts most shellholders but some brands are tight or won't fit at all. Some of the Herters shellholders wouldn't fit. and I think an RCBS was really tight.

    Make sure you have the set screw backed off enough.

    I love both my spartan and my spar-t. I am too young to have bought them new but I searched them out specifically. I like the set screw vs snap in because it keeps the shell holder from rotating. I also have a lachmiller that takes herters type shell holders which I think are like the J-type. It has an adapter and works quite well.

    I've been using my Spartan now for about two years loading 10mm pistol rounds
    and inserting Large Pistol Primers as it came with the primer install tool.
    Now I need to load cartridges with small pistol and Rifle primers. Anyone know
    if I can get the smaller primer sleeve or swap out whatever is necessary to insert
    small primers ? BTW, I really like the Spartan because the front is open
    and I dont have to get my fat fingers inside an O shaped press. I stopped
    using my LEE Challenger
